Overview
Tickmill is a forex and CFD broker that offers MetaTrader 4 and 5, its own Tickmill Trader platform and TradingView. There are two main account types, Classic (spread only) and Raw (spread plus commission), with futures accounts on top. The company you join depends on where you live.
Regulation and safety
We checked five licences. Tickmill UK Ltd is authorised by the FCA (717270) and Tickmill Europe Ltd holds CySEC licence 278/15. CySEC lists tickmill.com/eu as its approved domain. Tickmill South Africa (Pty) Ltd is an authorised FSP (49464). Tickmill UK also runs a representative office licensed by the DFSA in Dubai. A representative office may market the group but cannot hold client accounts. Tickmill Ltd, the company behind the global site, is listed by the FSA Seychelles as a securities dealer. That is an offshore licence with lighter protection.
The FCA register warns that clone firms such as FX Profit Broker and FxoptionTrade Limited have used Tickmill UK’s details. Our guides to broker regulation and broker scams explain what to check, and check a broker helps you confirm the company.
Costs
Classic quotes spreads from 1.6 pips with no commission. Raw quotes from 0.0 pips with a $3 commission per lot per side, so $6 round turn. Tickmill Trader Raw charges $3.50 per side. These are minimum spreads; Tickmill shows live spreads and swaps by instrument. The trading costs guide shows how to compare the two accounts for your own volume.
Platforms and tools
MetaTrader 4 and 5, the MetaTrader WebTrader, Tickmill Trader, TradingView and a mobile app. See MT4 vs MT5.
Deposits and withdrawals
The minimum deposit is $100. Tickmill charges no withdrawal fees and covers bank fees on single wire deposits of $5,000 or more. Third-party payments are not accepted.
Who it may suit
The set-up fits UK, EU and South African traders who want a locally licensed company and a choice between spread-only and commission pricing. Clients of the global site should weigh the offshore licence and the warning that losses can exceed deposits. Whichever company you join, try the demo account first and compare Classic and Raw costs on your own trades.
How to open an account
