Client protection

Regulation and entities

Websites

Official websites

  • fibogroup.com

Type the address yourself or use a bookmark. Check it matches the website listed for the firm on the regulator’s register.

Watch out for look-alike sites

We have not recorded any look-alike sites for FIBO Group. That does not mean none exist.

A clone firm copies a real broker’s name, licence number and branding to take deposits. The register shows the genuine firm, so the surest check is the contact details: if the website, email or phone number you were given is not the one on the register, treat it as a clone. Accounts and costs

Cost per lot = typical EUR/USD spread × $10 + round-turn commission, for one standard lot (100,000 units) in busy hours. Swap and other fees are extra. Trading costs explained

Leverage and margin

Leverage lets you open a position bigger than your deposit, so losses grow as fast as gains. The caps below are the most FIBO Group allows; you can always use less. For comparison, strict regulators cap retail leverage at 1:30 on major pairs.

Leverage by asset class not yet checked. Headline retail leverage: Up to 1:400 on standard accounts; up to 1:3000 and 1:5000 on cent accounts.

Stop-out
20% (MT4 Cent, MT4 Fixed, cTrader NDD, cTrader Zero Spread); 50% (MT4 NDD, MT4 NDD No Commission, MT5 NDD, MT5 Cent)When your equity falls to 20% (MT4 Cent, MT4 Fixed, cTrader NDD, cTrader Zero Spread); 50% (MT4 NDD, MT4 NDD No Commission, MT5 NDD, MT5 Cent) of your used margin, the platform starts closing your trades, usually the biggest loser first, until the level recovers.

Margin level = equity ÷ used margin × 100. Without negative balance protection, a fast market can gap past the stop-out and leave you owing money. Work out your margin level

Features

Strengths

  • FIBO Group, Ltd. is listed by the BVI FSC as a currently regulated investment business (dealing as agent and principal, arranging deals)
  • Wide choice of platforms and accounts, including cent accounts that open from 1 cent
  • Spreads from 0 pips on NDD accounts with commission charged as a percentage of trade value

Watch out for

  • The BVI licence is offshore and there is no compensation scheme

  • Leverage up to 1:5000 on the MT5 Cent account
  • FIBO's former Cyprus company no longer appears on CySEC's list of investment firms; EU clients have no EU-licensed FIBO company

Overview

FIBO Group says it has been in online margin trading since 1998. Today its accounts are with FIBO Group, Ltd., a company in the British Virgin Islands. It offers eight account types across MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 and cTrader, from cent accounts for testing to commission-based NDD accounts, plus PAMM managed accounts.

Regulation and safety

FIBO Group, Ltd. appears on the BVI Financial Services Commission’s register as a currently regulated investment business, authorised to deal as agent and as principal and to arrange deals. The register does not show the licence number; FIBO gives it as SIBA/L/13/1063. The BVI is an offshore jurisdiction, and there is no compensation scheme for retail traders.

FIBO used to have a CySEC-licensed company in Cyprus. It no longer appears on CySEC’s list of investment firms, so there is no EU-licensed FIBO company today. We found no promise of negative balance protection or client money segregation in the customer agreement. The agreement lets FIBO cover a negative balance on one account from your positive balances on others. Read our guide to forex broker regulation and check a broker before you deposit.

Costs

MT4 Fixed has fixed spreads and no commission. MT4 NDD No Commission starts at 0.8 pips. The NDD accounts on MT4, MT5 and cTrader start at 0 pips and charge 0.003% of the trade value. On one lot of EUR/USD (€100,000) that is €3 a side, or about €6 for the round trip. cTrader Zero Spread charges 0.012% with a $1 minimum. FIBO does not publish typical spreads by account. If FIBO introduces its dormant-account fee, it is up to $5 a month after 91 days without a trade. See our trading costs guide.

Platforms and tools

MetaTrader 4 (desktop and web), MetaTrader 5 and cTrader are all available. Islamic accounts are offered on MT4 Fixed, MT4 NDD and MT4 NDD No Commission. Pending orders on most MetaTrader accounts are deleted after 180 days. See MT4 vs MT5.

Deposits and withdrawals

You can pay by bank transfer, Visa or Mastercard, or an e-wallet in your own name. Withdrawals normally go back by the same method and in the same currency as the deposit.

Who it may suit

The account range suits traders who want to test strategies with cent accounts or compare MT4, MT5 and cTrader under one company, and who accept a BVI licence without negative balance protection.
