A consistent trader’s routine is boring: the same things, in the same order, every day.
Why routine beats willpower
Willpower is a resource that runs out, usually mid-afternoon on a losing day. Discipline that depends on it fails exactly when it is needed. A routine moves the decisions out of the moment: the calendar was checked, the limits were set, the chart was read, all before anything happened. In the moment there is nothing left to decide.
The three parts
Daily session routine
0 of 8
Before is where most of the work is. During is mostly about not doing things. After is the journal and a hard stop.
Try it
What would you do?
It is 07:30. You note your feeling in one word: 'rushed'. You slept badly and have a meeting at 09:00. The chart shows a clean setup. What does the routine say?
Notice how the one-word feeling check changed the decision without changing the chart.
